Described as an ‘energetic and agile violinist’ with ‘bold, passionate colours’ Ionel Manciu is quickly building a reputation as a soloist, chamber musician and orchestral leader.

Born in Bender, Republic of Moldova, Ionel Manciu is a laureate of numerous national and international competitions. He made his debut with the Moldovan National Chamber Orchestra aged ten.

In 2012 he won a full scholarship to study with David Takeno at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, where performances included a recital at the Carnegie Hall, a performance of Shostakovich’s Violin Concerto No.1 at the Barbican Hall, and a recital of all six Ysaÿe Solo Sonatas at the 1901 Arts Club.

Recent highlights include recordings of Chausson’s Concert and Bosmans’ Violin Sonata for BBC Radio 3.

Ionel’s great passion and love for orchestral repertoire has garnered attention from top orchestras and conductors, which led to him being appointed First Concertmaster of the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra. Moreover, he regularly collaborates as Guest-Concertmaster all around the world.

He is a sought-after chamber musician, and as a founding member of the Mithras Trio he won the 10th Trondheim International Chamber Music Competition and 67th Royal Over-Seas League Competition. They are current Borletti-Buitoni Trust Artists, former BBC Radio 3 New Generation Artists, Kirckman Music Society Young Artists and members of the Countess of Munster Trust Recital Scheme.

    He plays on a G.B. Guadagnini violin, (Parma ± 1764), owned by The VandenBroek Foundation, and a bow by J.P.M. Persoit (Paris ± 1850) both generously loaned by The Netherlands Musical Instrument Foundation.

Născut la Tighina, într-o familie de muzicieni, Ionel Manciu a început studiile muzicale la Liceul Republican de Muzica "C.Porumbescu". Profesori de vioară i-au fost Tamara Caftanat, ulterior Galina Buinovschi,

În 2012 câștigă o bursă pentru a-și continua studiile la Guildhall School of Music and Drama din Londra, Marea Britanie, absolvind clasa prof. David Takeno.

Este laureatul numeroaselor concursuri naționale și internaționale. A cântat pe mari scene ale lumii, ca Barbican Hall și Wigmore Hall din Londra, Carnegie Hall din New York, Concertgebouw din Amsterdam și Konzerthaus Berlin. Recent a înregistrat Concertul lui E.Chausson si Sonata pentru vioară de H.Bosmans pentru BBC Radio 3.

Împreună cu Mithras Trio, al cărui fondator este, a câstigat Concursul Internațional de Muzică de Cameră din Trondheim, Norvegia,  Concursul Royal Over-Seas League din Londra etc. Ei sunt BBC Radio 3 “New Generation Artists”, Kirckman Society Young Artists și Countess of Munster Artists.

Ionel, colaborează cu renumiți instrumentiști și dirijori din toată lumea, susținând concerte de camera și simfonice. Din august 2022, a fost numit prim-maestru de concert al Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra, Amsterdam.

Cântă la vioara lutierului G.B. Guadagnini (Parma ± 1764), deținută de VandenBroek Foundation si arcușul maestrului J.P.M. Persoit (Paris ± 1850) care i-au fost oferite de către Netherlands Musical Instrument Foundation.
